Okay, as I said elsewhere, I am looking at mass-adding a huge range of skills for all 4 specialties, to fill in the level 52-201 range with skills, and the problem is that Genjutsu is barely mentioned in the series, and when it is, it is mostly kekkei genkai or otherwise ridiculously complex.

If I go off narutopedia, and ignore kekkei genkai etc (for now), I will end up with about 50% of skills being ninjutsu, 30% ninja arts, 10% taijutsu and 10% genjutsu. That is okay as far as ninjutsu should have more skills, and I can add to taijutsu with things from martial arts text books (karate, muay thai and any one we want), but that still leaves genjutsu. I am going to be well short of filling in enough skills.

So what I want are some skills that are simple to make that I can mass add.

I am going to want the following types of skills:

  1. Variations of instant kill moves - Genjutsu should have more than anyone else, yet currently they don't have any. These can vary depending on likelihood of it hitting, how much damage they do when they miss, and how much percentage of the enemy's hps that they can have left for it to work (in comparison, Ippatsu currently requires 35% hps or less in order for it to work). I don't want any instant kill move to be over 35% hps, and I might want some to be 10% or so.
  2. Power-up moves - Like the taijutsu buyou-omote renge, I like the idea of genjutsu moves requiring previous moves in order to hit. You might have to afflict an enemy with 4 different moves before a 5th move finally does huge damage, or instant kills, or something like that. I want some ideas for what kinds of ways to do this and I want at least 1 power-up move, but probably 2 or 3, perhaps in different ways.
  3. Something for ghosts and other mobs with no minds - Ghosts are currently immune to Genjutsu, which makes it tough for Genjutsu specialists in the crypt. They don't have a mind, of course, so there is nothing to afflict. But there should be some way around that, something to do that is specific to people with no mind. Perhaps animating something to attack them. Of course, zombies hurt undead but zombies are a high level. Something for low levels, specifically aimed at hurting those with no mind or who are immune to genjutsu.
  4. More afflictions - I basically want at least one affliction for every type of thing that you could lose. Something for -dex, -str, -int, -wis, -con, -saves, -ac, -hitroll, -damroll the whole lot. Probably not -hitpoints, -chakra or -stamina though, as that doesn't seem appropriate. Can do combination things if you like. Probably don't want an all-in-one affliction thing. Whilst we probably have enough stop auto attacks things, and enough stuns, something along those lines could be considered too.
  5. Something to remove the aggy flag from mobs - Genjutsu folks shouldn't just be nasty. I'd love to see them walk through bandit territory and make all bandits peaceful, and similarly do the same thing for sharks in water country and so forth. Maybe just 1 skill to do this, or maybe several variations.
  6. Something to remove auto assists - Similarly, I want genjutsu folks to be able to go around and stop mobs from "screaming and attacking", not just stopping them from attacking the genjutsu person, but anyone at all.
  7. And something to re-add the flags - What you give, you can take away, so I'd love for genjutsu types to be able to make normally peaceful mobs be aggressive, or assist and so forth. Imagine someone making an entire area aggy. Again, keep it simple. Adding an aggy flag is simple. There are many more complex versions of this that I won't be considering at this stage as they are too complex. I want simple coding now.
  8. *SOME* raw damage - Genjutsu isn't known for its raw damage but it should have something, even if it isn't much. Perhaps something just for people with no mind (ghosts etc), or a power-up move or something like that. Wouldn't be as powerful as what the other specialties get, but just the odd bit of raw damage would be good. Maybe it costs a lot more chakra than others have to use.
  9. Something to use stamina? - Genjutsu is ridiculously chakra-conscious and, just for the sake of balance, it'd be good to have something that used stamina, if we can think of something. Maybe something that uses mostly chakra but a bit of stamina. I don't rightly know.
  10. Forcibly close chakra gates - I'd like to see Genjutsu be the bane of taijutsu a bit, by being able to forcibly close chakra gates. A bit hard to pull off and all and the taijutsu person can just reopen them again, but would be quite handy at times. Just calm them down and return them to normal.
  11. Help recover from chakra gate stun - What you give, you take away. So the Genjutsu specialist should have something to help the taijutsu user to instantly recover from chakra gate stun (and from omote renge stun).
  12. Something to see through henge (detect henge) - I'd like to see a new detection type - detect henge - that lets you see through henge. If you type in who, it says what imms see, i.e. "Ichike (disguised as Konan)" and similarly you see who they really are when you walk in the room. Maybe different versions of it, or maybe just one skill, not sure. I'd like mobs to be able to have it too, so that some mobs that are aggressive or assist can ignore henge.
  13. Something to dispel henge - Again, I'd like to be able to get rid of someone else's henge. Maybe simply dispel henge would do. You'd have to know that they were henged first, presumably, so detect henge. Perhaps also have an area version of it, that un-henges everyone in the room, or attempts to at least.
  14. Mind control - force you to attack your friends - I'd like to have a mind control version that simply forces you to attack people in your own group, so that they stop following you and attack you back. That'd be very handy to get people's summons to attack them. Even if the attack itself didn't do much, just to suddenly have an enemy would be pretty annoying.
  15. Mind control - force you to do an area attack - The area attack wouldn't do much damage but its purpose would be to get everyone in the room to be aggressive to the person who did it, thus effectively turning everyone against them.
  16. Mind control - get them to side with you - For a brief period of time, this could make someone join with you to attack someone else. You could even be fighting someone then suddenly hey presto they are fighting with you instead.
  17. Mind control - forced ally - Similar kind of thing, basically they become your pet, allied with you for a significant period of time. There would be an upkeep cost for this most likely


Now, what I need is some ideas for these kinds of things and how they could work.

I basically need a helpfile for each of them, to explain, at a bare minimum:

  • Name of jutsu (in Japanese if possible)
  • Message when the jutsu hits
  • Level of jutsu
  • Which sub specialty - out of Hypnotist (mind control), Demon (afflictions), Illusionist (illusions), Ghost (can't be hit) - or for all genjutsu specialists
  • Chakra cost (and stamina cost if it has any)
  • Damage and other affects
  • Chance of success, if different to standard
  • How to get rid of it (kai, impossible, etc)


Basically explain how most skills are explained.

I will be mass-adding skills and I will likely want about 100-300 Genjutsu skills, so if anyone can come up with lots of ideas, it would be greatly appreciated.

Effects: A ninja skilled in the art of Genjutsu can trick their enemy into thinking they have won by replacing themselves with an illusiory corpse-double. The ninja is then free to retreat to a safer location while their opponent is distracted by the dead body at their feet.

Using Corpse Mimicry ensures that if it is successful the ninja suffers no experience loss when they flee from battle.

Success: Same as Kawarimi?

The effect ends: when the mob sees the target again by them entering the room or giving away their location.

((The idea behind this genjutsu is like kawarimi, but without the adverse side effect of escaping one fight and ending up in a random room where aggro mobs might be, or if there is no open way out of the room. This would likely fall under the temporary removal of the aggro-mob flag within the room its used, concealing the user so they can then make their escape. Performing any other action should probably drop the genjutsu to keep people from using it to halt combat again and again, only to heal and keep attacking the mob. Any overt actions, like yelling out a jutsu to heal themselves would give away their presence in the room. Another use would be if the Genjutsu user is in a group and they get attacked before their tank does, they could use it as a reverse to rescue where they escape and can then engage the enemy with their tank leading the fight. And it would make PK battles a little more amusing.))

I think that that is actually in Naruto, isn't it? I was more looking for ideas out of people's minds. And if it is level 30, it is definitely a general skill. I was more looking for level 52+ skills.

Anyway, yeah, maybe a guaranteed flee by using corpse mimicry, requiring a corpse in your possession, might be good. It was used by Kabuto and I think was a genuine genjutsu. But I was probably going to add this anyway. I think more likely about level 120 or so though, as Kabuto was pretty high when he used it, and maybe have it do something more than just flee.

Chakra and Stamina costs for all Jutsu are increased by 50% for those suffering under this Genjutsu.

Chance of Success: Those with good alignments would be easier to affect, while those with negative alignments would find it easier to resist. 40% for good, 20% for evil?

Getting rid of it: Kai (with increased chakra cost)

Effects: This Genjutsu appears to be a Summoning of many poisonous snakes that attack their target, wrapping around their limbs and threatening to bite. The second and far more dangerous aspect of this Genjutsu is that the victim is compelled to fight the snakes off their body before they get the chance to attack, which puts them at risk of hurting themselves as they attack their own body trying to remove the serpents.

Damage: The target uses one of their attacks per battle turn to deal damage to themsleves (target's level/2) + (STR*4)

Chances of Success: 10% chance of the victim causing BLEED on themselves, which lasts even after the genjutsu is dispelled.

Getting rid of it: Lasts for a number of turns equal to the users INT + WIS/10, unless dispelled by Kai first.

Jigoku no Kotaba sounds good (probably command Kotaba) except that the implementation would be way too complex (raising chakra costs for everything), as that would mean changing about 1,000 different files, which is just ridiculous and I don't really want to do it. It would be easier if it either had a forced chakra upkeep cost or simply reduced the chakra of the enemy, or perhaps both. That one would *definitely* be Demon, as it fits the very definition of what that sub spec would be.

Mousetsu Kuchiyose no Jutsu: Genkaku Hebi (probably command Genkaku) is a little complex but not ridiculously so. If affected by Genkaku then every attack round they hit themselves seems reasonably, dispellable by kai but with 1 extra hit on dispel. And this one, I think would be Mind Controller, as it fits the definition for that one a bit better (and as we have too many Illusionist ones already).

We need some Ghost ones folks!

I had some more thoughts on the corpse switch thing too. I am thinking level 95, so that it is general (just), requiring a corpse and I will lower the corpse preservation jutsu to level 95. I think that it would let you flee into a specific direction, with a guaranteed flee, regardless of things like stun, flood in the room, or anything else that would normally stop fleeing, also with perhaps a toxic gas released if someone attacks the corpse the next round (poison + disease). If you can't flee in that direction, it would anki you away, even if it is a no-anki area. This would make it quite handy to get out of PK and other tight spots.

saishuu teki na osore no jutsu sounds good and I think that illusionist is right as it is direct damage. I am not sure about the damage/chance for instant kill etc but we can work out what is appropriate when we get there. The basic idea of it is good. Might have to reduce the chances to kill though, not sure. Very good, very simple command that fills a gap nicely. Great idea!

((It could be done to be a longer lasting effect where the per turn upkeep turns into a larger per tick upkeep))

-5 to targets DR
-10 to targets saves

Damage: Users INT/2 + WIS/3

Getting rid of it: Lasts for a short time. Kai (With lowered chance of working?), does not stack with multiple uses of 'No Mind'

Had a second thought on the 'No Mind' submission, and rather than lowering hit/dam, it would probably be better if it lowered INT and WIS to make the target less resistant.

You make a number of handsigns and yell out Sutoribasu
Genjutsu name: sutoribasu
Function: Causes your opponent to hit himself instead of you
Drawback: you cannot use any skills or attack normally, but you can
still eat pills
Chakra cost: Alot!
Level: 130
(chakra would be a % of your max so that no matter how high of a level you
get you wont be able to own higher level mobs with ease, unless you become
an extreme pill popper)
Background: This justu is a move created after Insect Eyes and the Yamanaka's
special Mind Transfer technique. While not as powerful as Mind Transfer it is
still a powerful genjutsu that only high level genjutsu masters can even hope
to use.
How to get: A quest from Ino's father, havent thought much of it im just
typing this off the top of my head cause we needed another idea!

Fallen, not well structured in light of previous ideas, but perhaps lets see sub spec can be mind control level 130 like you say, and perhaps on top of insect eyes it forces you for a few rounds, until you use kai. Would be cool to use to force every attack to be insect eyes until they remembered to use kai.
